A wraparound rear and side extension designed to create a larger open-plan kitchen and family space, with a utility, WC, feature gable and bi-fold doors opening onto the garden.
AVD was appointed to develop proposals for a wraparound rear and side extension to a family home on the Longshoot in Nuneaton. The brief was to create a more generous kitchen and family area with an open-plan layout, together with a new utility room and WC.
AVD carried out a measured survey and feasibility design, followed by the preparation and management of the Planning and Building Regulations applications through to determination.
The design required to bring the rear and side additions together as one coherent extension while reorganising the ground floor around a larger open-plan family space. The new accommodation also needed to provide practical utility and WC space without compromising the main kitchen and living areas.
AVD developed a wraparound extension that combines the new kitchen and family accommodation within a more open-plan ground-floor layout. A separate utility room and WC were incorporated to add practical everyday space alongside the main family area.
A feature gable was used to give the rear elevation a stronger architectural focal point, with bi-fold doors opening the family space towards the garden and increasing the connection between the new interior and outside space.
Planning Permission was approved, followed by Building Regulations approval, allowing the wraparound rear and side extension scheme to progress.
